The human calves have to be the one muscle group where a lot of it due to genetics, as genetics helps your calves grow a certain way when your training them. The calf muscle, on the back of the lower leg, is actually made up of two muscles; The gastrocnemius is the larger calf muscle, forming the bulge visible beneath the skin. The gastrocnemius has two parts or ‘heads’, which put together creates its diamond shape.
the calf muscle usually is skipped by a lot of people due to the fact that they think its all genetic if they are big or not but really the case is that if you don’t train calf’s you wont get too see what kind of shape your calves are.
Some great exercises for you to do to focus on your calf muscles are standing calf raise on elevated surface, seated calf raise, farmers walk on toes, jump rope, dumbbell jump squat, downward dog and weighted calf raises.
